Cuisinart CJE-1000 Review

The CJE-1000 is an efficient and fast centrifugal juicer that features the power, versatility, and quality that one would expect from a Cuisinart small kitchen appliance.  With a five speed 1000Watt motor, wide feed chute, stainless steel housing, dishwasher safe parts, and a foam reducing filter basket, the CJE-1000 has a lot to offer.  While Breville has a dominant foothold on the centrifugal juicer market, this Cuisinart model is a worthy candidate for anyone looking for a fast juicer.

While not as highly rated by owners as some other models, the CJE-1000 does represent a good value at its price point and may be a viable option for those looking for an entry level juicer.

Pros

Speed:  Fast and powerful motor makes quick work of a variety of different fruits and vegetables.

Noise:  For a centrifugal juicer, the CJE-1000 is relatively quiet.

Price:  It is a lot less expensive than other juicers with comparable features.  Good value juicer.

Cons

Leafy Greens:  Poor juice yield on leafy vegetables (kale, spinach, wheatgrass).  The juicer tends to shred these types of foods and not extract a lot of juice from them.

Juice Yield:  Pulp that is ejected tends to be a little moist.  This indicates that not all of the possible juice was extracted.

Juicer Features

cuisinart-cje1000-content1000Watt Motor:  Handles even the hardest fruits and vegetables with ease.  Carrots, apples and beets, don’t stand a chance.  The CJE-1000 is designed for those who do not have a lot of time to juice everyday and want a machine that can get the job done quickly.

5-Speed Dial:  This unit is also equipped with a dial to adjust the speed at which the juicer operates.  Use the higher speed for hard foods and set it lower for softer foods.  This helps maximize juice yield according to what type of fruit or vegetable is being juiced.

Wide Feed Chute:  Juice larger produce without having to cut it up into smaller sizes.  The three inch feed chute can accommodate whole apples and carrots.  Less prep time makes the entire juicing process that much faster.

Foam Reducing Disc:  A specially designed filter basket helps cut down on foam which can affect the taste of the juice.

Quieter:  While not as quiet as a masticating juicer, the CJE-1000 should be a lot less noisy than other juicers in its class.

Design:  With a stainless steel housing, this juicer will look good in just about any type of kitchen.  While performance is always the most important factor for any small kitchen appliance, it doesn’t hurt to have a sleek, modern style as well.

Anti-Drip Spout:  This helps reduce spills and unwanted dripping by using an adjustable spout which can be closed when needed.

Owner Response

The Cuisinart CJE-1000 is a good, but not great, juicing machine according to users.  There are some aspects of the juicer that users really like and find very effective, but there are also some areas where this juicer may not measure up to others in its class.  Some of the more common compliments and complaints seen in customer reviews include:

What Owners Like

Noise:  Centrifugal juicers are notoriously loud machines and they are not ideal to operate while others are sleeping.  The Cuisinart CJE-1000, however, is surprisingly less noisy for this type of juicer and is something that a lot of users really appreciate.

Speed:  Quick and convenient juicing that also gets high marks from customers.  The entire process is straight forward and fast.

Clean Up:  While there were a few owners that had troubles with cleaning their CJE-1000, a majority found it to be a rather painless endeavour and were happy how this juicer performed in this area.  Dishwasher safe parts help cut down on clean up time for a lot of users.

Variable Speeds:  Owners also liked the versatility to adjust the speed of the juicer depending on the hardness or softness of the food being juiced.  Five speed options is something seen in much more expensive juicers.

Price:  For all of its features, its powerful motor, and its overall performance, a fair number of owners felt like the CJE-1000 gave them excellent value for the money.

Cons

Juice Yield:  A lot of complaints center around the overall juice yield that this unit delivers and how it could be better.  A number of owners were not happy about how the pulp that was ejected was a little wet and not fully juiced.

Leafy Vegetables:  There were also a number of owners that pointed to how poorly this juicer handles leafy greens such as kale and spinach.  Large chunks ended up in the pulp catcher without being juiced.  This juicer tends to shred these types of foods, something not uncommon for centrifugal juicers.  For anyone who plans to primarily juice these types of vegetables, a masticating juicer is recommended.

Bulky:  Some users were surprised by just how much room this juicer required on their counter top and wished that it was a little more compact in size.

Bottom Line

The Cuisinart CJE-1000 is a solid budget-friendly option for those looking to get into juicing for the first time.  It has a number of features usually found on more expensive centrifugal juicers, so it does provide some great value.  While it has received some less than favorable reviews from a few owners, its overall user ratings are still pretty decent.  Average customer scores for the CJE-1000 are usually in the low 4’s out of 5 stars.

Final Thoughts

Nice budget option for anyone looking for the power and versatility usually found on more costly models. Not the best option for juicing leafy green vegetables, and juice yield may not be as high as some other centrifugal juicers. None the less, it offers decent value for the money.
