U.S. Voters Seeing 'Green' as Top Priority for Presidential Candidates

Findings Offer a Window into How Voters Impact Political and Business Strategies

November 14, 2007 - Neighborhood America, the leading enterprise social network solutions provider, today announced that early Connect2Elect.com results reveal that over 60 percent of prospective voters identify 'green' initiatives as a top concern.

According to this week's Connect2Elect results, democratic candidate Bill Richardson is most closely aligned with the site's 4,000 registered users, with his plan to make "America a Clean Energy Nation." On the republican front, results show John McCain most strongly responds to voters' interests on 'green' initiatives. Of the nine republican contenders, only McCain considers global warming to be a great concern.

Among Connect2Elect users:

61 percent identified the need for fuel and energy alternatives as the top social issue 51 percent consider global warming to be a great concern 47 percent prioritized higher energy-efficient mandates as their top political issue As the collective voice of the public rises around environmental issues, politics and businesses alike are responding to the 'green' movement through various initiatives, products, and messaging.

Politicians aren't the only ones 'going green.' A recent McKinsey report found that CEO's have incorporated environmental issues into core strategies, "responding to increasing pressure from employees and consumers."

"These results show that the voices of many are impacting how brands, businesses, and politicians operate," said Kim Patrick Kobza, president and CEO of Neighborhood America. "Our goal is to promote technologies that allow citizens to be heard, while enabling organizations to learn from that valuable input."

Connect2Elect.com's 'green' results, along with the McKinsey research, points to the growing power and influence that individuals have in shaping politics, government and business.

Connect2Elect.com is a breakthrough enterprise social networking system which enables individuals to learn how they identify and align with presidential candidates. The site differs from other political social networks by outlining the most important issues to the voting public and eliminating the popularity factor, party lines, titles, or other influencing factors involved in traditional political polls.
